    Ty for this video. Just purchased a student model alto sax and it came with a cheap strap. Definitely do not want the sax pulling on my neck so I purchased a strap that is similar looking to the jazz lab one, but it looks a little bulky and the hook is made with very cheap looking material. The last strap you showed looks the best for me, so I will definitely check it out.

    Thank you Donna. I am 83 and have had TMJ for 5 weeks. Upon waking at 0500 after sleeping on left side. Ok after sleeping on right side. Have concluded that I was using too much ombachoer after much dental work. Thanks for your channel. James NZ

    • @DonnaSchwartz
      @DonnaSchwartz 15 днів тому

      I don't know what too much embouchure means... If you have TMJ, you need to be mindful of your jaw position when playing saxophone. Some people place their jaw in such a position that irritates the TMJ. Some people have too much tension in their jaw when they play, which is also not good.

    Once question that was not asked in the video is: Is the EMEO for total beginners?

    • @DonnaSchwartz
      @DonnaSchwartz 25 днів тому

      The reason why is because if you want to play the saxophone - the actual saxophone - you need to learn the embouchure. The EMEO is not designed for that. Also, if you are a beginner, you do want to learn all your fingerings. The EMEO can help you with that too, but I think the EMEO is great for people who have been playing for a little while, can't always practice because of where they live or the times they have to practice, and for those who want to explore electronic sounds and possibly add them to the repertoire. For me personally, I'm not thinking about absolute beginners playing this before playing the actual saxophone and developing the embouchure, fingerings, breathing etc

    I’ve had mine for over a year now and I play it almost every night when I can’t play my tenor. Great fun and a nice instrument to practice tunes and improvising. And as Donna says, it’s not for your embochure. Maybe a bit pricey but much better than the Roland Aerophone that I hade before getting the Emeo. Feels much more like a real saxophone since it has real saxophone keys. I use mine with the cabel connected to my macbook and it’s very close to zero latency.

    • @iannevins1817
      @iannevins1817 Місяць тому

      Yes I just don’t want to be tied to my laptop with a wire any time I want to practice. So I’m wondering what the user experience is like running through Bluetooth and an iPhone. Nobody ever seems to talk about this.

    • @DonnaSchwartz
      @DonnaSchwartz Місяць тому

      @@iannevins1817 As I mentioned in the video, the latency is a lot when using a phone and Bluetooth. If you want more info, contact EMEO on their site

    • @iannevins1817
      @iannevins1817 Місяць тому

      No, to be clear you only mentioned the latency while using Bluetooth earbuds. I am trying to find out what the latency is like just connecting the Emeo to my iPhone via Bluetooth. But never mind, I’ll find out elsewhere.

    • @DonnaSchwartz
      @DonnaSchwartz Місяць тому

      Again, contact EMEO directly via their site. When I met with them at NAMM, we spoke about this, and they strongly recommended to NOT use Bluetooth with the phone.

  • @iannevins1817
    @iannevins1817 Місяць тому

    Thanks for this video. Can I ask a couple of questions? 1. How is using it with an iPhone? I know you mentioned not to use it with Bluetooth headphones, but is there any latency with wired headphones and Bluetooth iPhone use? Is that as smooth as wiring it to a laptop? 2. I tried the Travelsax2 and found it very glitchy with the key response. Not so much like my sax. Is the emeo less key glitchy between notes? Between octaves, etc? Thanks!

    • @DonnaSchwartz
      @DonnaSchwartz Місяць тому

      There shouldn't be latency when you are wired. Not sure what you mean about the keys being glitchy - I didn't have that problem on the Travel Sax 2, and I don't have it on the EWEO.

    Great for practicing finger work, dynamics, and articulation. You can exercise your embouchure, but no perfect it. Responsiveness is also very good. Occasionally squeaks a high pitch/screech. You can connect to your mobile phone and hear your phone music through the TS2 headset which is great for practicing silently. The main concern is that the bluetooth connection requires Location permission. This may be a privacy issue since other bluetooth apps don't require Location permission. The other problem is that you cannot pair while in airplane mode while earbuds, watches, and other BT devices can. When flying, you must pair TS2 to your phone before you activate airplane mode. Alternatively, you can use one ear to listen to one of the earpieces connect to the TS2 and your other ear to use one of your bluetooth earbuds. You will not be able to change any settings (eg alto to tenor) without being connected to your phone app. I have reached out to Odisei several times with no explanation other than you need Location permission.
